One of the most exciting things to happen on our journey so far has been fulfilled within the last few weeks – Tiff pieces are now stocked in the Tate Modern art gallery in London! It’s been a few months coming, after an inquiry from a lovely Tate buyer later last year, who happened to stumble across a Tiff clutch after wandering into Tusch und Egon, our only London stockist (well until now!).
This coincides with the opening of the new wing at the Tate Modern. As part of a long process, the gallery has been constructing a mammoth extension to their building, containing the new retail space we will be featured in. Now complete, the extension has created 60% more gallery space as well as more areas for larger scale art such as performance. The ten storey building was designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron and opened on 17 June this year; you can read more about it and see images here.
The process for us to produce enough pieces to send over took a couple of months, as we wanted to send a diverse selection with plenty of colours, shapes and styles to appeal to everyone. It's now a huge privilege to be featured alongside an array of art-based products made by designers around the world, not to mention the Tate gallery itself, which holds some of the most important contemporary art to exist. It’s amazing to stop and think about! We love that our little hand-painted products are flying halfway across the globe to be seen by international who have come to enjoy art and be inspired.
We were really happy to receive a couple of images from the Tate retail team recently – you can see here how beautifully our Tiff pieces are displayed. Obviously there has been time, thought and effort put into how best to showcase our product, with a very polished result. If you are any one you know is visiting London soon, let us know what you think of the new shop!
